Position Summary Magellan Aerospace, New York (Corona, Queens) specializes in crafting intricate structural and landing gear components primarily from steel and titanium, including plates and forgings. The division has an exciting opening for an Estimator / Cost Engineer who will work with Engineering to estimate setup & cycle time of machining operations (turning, milling, mill-turn, 3-5 axis) inspection/CMM, and assembly of products. The salary range is $60k to $75k. Essential Responsibilities Work with Engineering to estimate setup & cycle time of machining operations (turning, milling, mill-turn, 3-5 axis), inspection/CMM, and assembly of products. Evaluate manufacturing approaches by analyzing drawing specifications, parts lists, and MBD for structural details and assemblies. Contact suppliers for quotations of subcontracted components/operations, and processing. Create financial bid model templates in support of RFQs for upper management review. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and other departments to identify areas of improvement. Support with creating manufacturing plans, bill of materials and part masters in our ERP system. Position Requirements 2 years degree in mechanical engineering or 3-5 years of hands-on experience preferred. Minimum 2 years of work experience Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Project). Experience with CAD/CAM is preferred. Experience with CNC programming, and machining multi-axis parts is advantageous Familiarity with 3, 4, and 5-axis HMC, VMC, GD&T, and hands-on machining and measuring skills are beneficial Knowledge of GD&T and interpreting Engineering data Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Effective time-management skills. Ability to use ERP/MRP system, prior knowledge is desirable. Quality and detail oriented High degree of analytical and critical thinking. Ability to work collaboratively as a team, as well as independently Why Magellan?
