GE is looking for a Lead Engineer – Mechanical Component 

Job Description Summary Come join a highly technical team designing aerospace airframe and engine components to support commercial and military customers! The Lead Mechanical Component Engineer is responsible for supporting design, analysis and testing of GE Aerospace Loves Park, IL products. This support includes new product development, field issues, research, and production support. This role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. This position will sit onsite Monday – Friday at our Loves Park, IL facility. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities Experience in mechanical component design, analysis, and testing. Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering for all products Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline including, but not limited to, aerospace actuation systems and pneumatic valves, In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area. Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technology from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 7 years of experience in Engineering and/or Design) A minimum of 3 years of experience in Engineering and/or Design Desired Characteristics Familiarity with 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks and/or NX Experience with aerospace actuation, pneumatic, hydraulic, or fuel actuated valves. Experience with NPI (New Product Introduction) design and development, including the process flow. Proficiency with the ANSYS suite of analysis tools. Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Knowledge of tollgate processes and aviation FAR 25 and FAR 33 certifications. Engineering change processes Familiarity with DO160 requirements and testing Familiarity with AS9100 Familiarity with LEAN methodology and principals. Familiarity with Electrical / Electronics and Motors technologies. This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology.
