As a Physical Security Engineer, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. As a Physical Security Engineer your responsibilities are: Security Policy and Standards Deploy security technologies in accordance with established requirements, standards, deadlines, and applicable employment law and company policy. Provide Subject Matter Expertise for security technologies and support high visibility needs of the business on a variety of special projects which often involve expedited deliverables, operational agility, and impact to operational functions. Collaboration and Partner Experience Collaborate with peer teams and organizations to ensure alignment with broader strategy and initiatives as well as full support of leadership priorities, focused on helping to reduce costs and complexity, and improve efficiency. Provide partnership and trusted advice to evangelize and represent Microsofts datacenter physical security programs, where appropriate. Manage regular site security system meetings with security operations and facility management teams where current site system health is reviewed, and coordination of services with internal and external service providers is handled. Data-Driven Analysis and Improvement Collect and maintain security system data to identify system health, performance trends, system configuration compliance, and recommend repeatable strategies to address issues at scale. Continuously improve and mature the overall physical security program, including providing expertise on the continuing evolution of existing physical security processes and procedures that produce valid, trustworthy results, support the goals of the business, and remove as many subjective elements as possible. Security Incident Response Receive escalation notifications of physical security and business impacting incidents, triage and escalate as appropriate, ensuring leadership and peer teams are informed, and appropriate personnel are managing incident response effectively. Monitoring and Detection Manage physical security technologies and systems at Microsoft Datacenters, including physical access control, video surveillance, security networks, radio over internet protocol, key management, and entry systems. Manage security system life cycle to maintain system health and compliance, including system triage, service escalation, and the oversight of the maintenance and repair performed by vendor support teams. Required Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cyber security, anomaly detection, Security Operations Center (SOC) detection, threat analytics, security incident and event management (SIEM), information technology (IT), and operations incident response OR Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field. Other Requirements Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination. Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under U.S. export control regulations, potentially under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations or the Export Administration Regulations. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide proof of citizenship, U.S. permanent residency or other protected status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3) for assessment of eligibility to access the export-controlled information. Security Operations Engineering IC3 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 – $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 – $198,600 per year.
