The Solar Support Engineer will serve SolarEdge customers cohesively by implementing new products into the customer base, developing product integration plans from NPI to service to long term warranty support, and using engineering expertise to improve product and service quality following equipment installation. This includes partnering with Product Teams on rollouts (EV chargers, Storage Systems, Communication, PV Inverters etc.), engaging with R&D and Quality leaders at HQ with respect to hardware, software, and peripherals functions, designs, and quality while focusing on commercial & industrial 3ph solar systems. Duties and Responsibilities: Manage technical escalations by investigating and analyzing Commercial and Utility Solar systems to confirm equipment and code compliance and provide reliable solutions. Represents Service Organization during NPI phases, provides product feedback, identifies service and training plans to include in rollout, conveys “design for maintenance” concepts to product Managers that enable SolarEdge installers to have improved installation experience. Includes locating and reporting upon product performance at “Alpha” sites. Performs product diagnostics/oversees failure analysis methods. study failure trends, capture No Failure Found statistics, and develop improved troubleshooting techniques. As appropriate, report finds to HQ Teams, including Support-Tier 3. R&D. QA, and Products teams. Serves as train-the trainer in an individual engineering contributor role. Includes supporting new products, best practices for existing product lines, and mentoring engineers into more senior roles. Develops product-specific knowledge for use by functional experts. Maintains and improves products knowledge-based so that Technical Service Engineers have the most current and best information/content to answer customer inquiries, perform diagnostics, troubleshooting and MA authorization. Prepares periodic and ad-hoc reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing failure data and trends impacting product quality, and sharing analysis with R&D and Operations. Travels to commercial escalated sites and Alpha sites to perform detailed diagnostics study, assessment, including but not limited to grid interactions, power quality measurement, communications troubleshooting, interface of SolarEdge products with customers on-premise assets, and examine SolarEdge equipment based on reported or suspected anomalies. Country: United-States City: Roseville, CA Required Skills and Qualifications: 5+ years of in technical leadership roles, solar PV related companies preferred. Hands-on experience in Commercial and Utility sites, familiar with the different equipment on these sites including communications Experience with Solar Inverters, DC-DC converters, 3ph grid types, high voltage transformers, SCADA Proficiency in electrical drawings, calculation of the different parts in Solar Systems as: wire sizing, transformers, breakers and more Experience with testing / measurement equipment: oscilloscope, power analyzer and more. Ability to work effectively in a fast pace environment. Strong verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to perform data analysis (excel proficiency), hardware diagnostics/failure analysis/bench testing BS in Electrical Engineering: requires extensive knowledge of electronics, power boards, and circuitry. Limited travel required to customer sites. Roseville CA office trade shows and Israel HQ. FAIR PAY & A JUST WORKPLACE At SolarEdge, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $100K-$120K. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at SolarEdge. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
